Candidate Profile

We are looking for adaptable, reliable and organised Senior Activity Managers who are able to work in a busy, fast-paced and often challenging Summer School environment. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, as is the ability to work calmly, effectively and positively, even whilst under pressure. 

The job holder must be able to support and empower Activity Managers and Assistant Activity Managers to plan and deliver activities to the highest standard, ensuring students receive a first-class Social Programme experience. 

We aim to give students an educational, culturally-enriching, enjoyable and memorable summer experience in a safe and supervised setting. We only employ managers who are willing to accept this responsibility and who have the necessary wide-ranging skills, experience, disposition and commitment to help us achieve our goal of being the very best Summer School.

Qualifications

  • A degree in Events Management is desirable
  • Driver - current, clean driving licence

Experience

  • Minimum of 3 years experience managing staff
  • Minimum 1 year experience working with children
  • Experience of working in a summer school or education context is preferred

Compensation

£1,020 per week. 

Statutory holiday pay is paid pro-rata with each salary payment on top of the stated weekly salary. 

Accommodation and all meals are provided. 

Working Hours

Working hours will be variable.

Shifts will include early mornings, late nights and weekends. 

Senior Activity Managers are entitled to one full day off per week (day variable). 

Working Day

The Senior Activity Manager occupies a key role within the Activities Team and will work closely alongside the Enterprise and Social Programme Manager to support and oversee the planning and delivery of the academies and activities at all Bede's Summer School centres. 

The job holder will be responsible for helping to ensure the delivery of a first-class activity programme that provides students with the chance to not only enhance their language skills, but also helps them to form friendships that last well beyond the summer and allows them to experience new hobbies that they may not have had the chance to try before. 

The working day is long, involves lots of contact time with Head Office, Activity Managers, Assistant Activty Managers and the Transport Coordinator which can be very challenging, but it is also varied, and of course, living and working with young people can be immensely rewarding. 

The Social Programme is essential for the success of the Summer School and is a key contributor to why students return, as such, the job holder must be adaptable, organised and reliable to ensure the smooth running of the activities and academies at all centres throughout the summer.
